The subclass 186 visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers. It allows an individual to work in Australia under one of three streams:
After 2 years working with the business, your sponsored employee may be eligible to apply for Permanent Residency. The time while employed with the business does not need to be continuous but it does need to be with the same organisation. Please note age and language requirements do apply.
If your employee receives a positive skills assessment and they have a minimum of 3 years of experience in their occupation, they may not be required to wait 2 years with the business before applying for permanent residency. If the company is willing to nominate the employee with their positive skills assessment, they can apply under the Direct Entry Stream. Please note age and language requirements do apply.
If your business has a current Labour Agreement in place, your employee may be eligible to apply for permanent residency under the Labour Agreement Stream. Please note age and language requirements do apply.
